Inside DHIS2 Level Up — five days that changed how a room full of health professionals uses data.
In early September, Relief Lab welcomed a first cohort of humanitarian and development professionals to Yaoundé for five days of practical DHIS2 training.
The training was delivered in official partnership with the Health Information Systems Unit (Cellule d'Information Sanitaire) of the Cameroonian Ministry of Public Health — the national team responsible for the platform.
Participants came from ministries, UN agencies and NGOs. They worked side by side on real data challenges: pulling programme indicators, building dashboards, mapping coverage and running data-quality checks.
What made the week different was proximity. Rather than following a generic tutorial, participants learned directly from the people who operate the national platform every day.
Every module — from the Data Visualizer to Tracker Capture — was grounded in real operational use cases from Cameroon's health system.
By day five, the room was full of new dashboards, sharper questions and a clear sense of what data can unlock when people know how to use it.
